Lacrosse is relatively unknown in the Netherlands, but in North America this team ball sport is hugely popular. American Indian tribes developed the sport to resolve disputes and to prepare soldiers for war. The key elements of lacrosse are speed, action and team spirit. Men's lacrosse is a full-contact sport and all players wear helmets and body protectors. The women’s game is much less physical, so a gum shield is sufficient. In the Netherlands, lacrosse is mainly played by students, so as a beginner you can usually get to the same level as your team mates quite quickly.
Lacrosse association Delft Lacrosse organizes lacrosse training sessions in collaboration with X. The only way to participate in these lacrosse training sessions is as a member of this association.
Each training session starts with a warming-up, followed by exercises to improve your technique. You also practice various match situations. The training sessions often end with a short match, in which you focus on the techniques you practiced during the training session.
