Bachata Sensual is the largest Spanish fusion from Bachata. Bachata (now also referred to as traditional or Dominican Bachata) originated in the Dominican Republic around 1962 and started as a revolution against the existing regime. Its illegal music and street parties brought people of all ages together. This beautiful dance is characterised by a strong focus on footwork and hip movements, guided by the feeling of the instruments. The Bachata Sensual style was created in Cadíz, Spain, in around 2002, after bachata had already been around Europe for a while. This connected the playful Bachata with the fluidity and technical sophistication of European contemporary dance. Resulting in a rich dance style consisting of a mix of footwork, hips and upper body movements.

This Bachata Sensual beginners course covers the basics of the dance, including the basic steps, movements and techniques. You will get familiar with the music and learn the techniques (solo) in front of the mirror before applying them with a dance partner. As Bachata is a social dance, which means we use improvisation rather than choreography, we will change partners during the lesson and get to know others in the group. By the end of this course, you will have learned the basic principles of leading and following in Bachata, enabling you to dance with anyone.
