Dr. Otto Kroesen introduces and explains the concept of tribal entrepreneurship. Surprisingly the interview also addresses tribalisation as a way out of the identity crises of people in modern Western societies. In Kroesen's opinion, the tribe could bring back the lost sense of 'we'.

As of January 1, Sabine Roeser will succeed Ibo van de Poel as department chair of VTI. Sabine Roeser is professor of ethics and has worked at TPM since 2001. She has been Section Leader of the Ethics/Philosophy of Technology section since March 2015.

On 21 January, TPM researchers Karolien van Nunen and Genserik Reniers will speak about chemical clusters and domino effects at a meeting of Contact group Health and Chemistry (CGC) and the Dutch Association of Safety Science (NVVK).

A new book edited by Emad Yaghmaei and Ibo van de Poel on responsible innovation has been published. The open access book titled ‘Assessment of Responsible Innovation: Methods and Practices”, fills the scientific lacuna on responsible innovation assessment. Claudia Werker, Robert Verburg, Laurens Rook and Udo Pesch also contributed to the book.

The paper "Before responsible innovation: teaching anticipation as a competency for engineers" authored by Taylor Stone, Lavinia Marin and Janna van Grunsven won the award for the Best short paper at the SEFI 2020 conference. The paper was commended as being very interesting, the presentation clear and easy to follow.
