Thesis Boost Day
Could you use a boost for your thesis? Then sign up for the TU Delft Writing Centre's Thesis Boost Day! On this day you will work with other students in a structured way in a writing group under the guidance of one of our coaches. We open the day together to look ahead at your writing goals and close together to review how it went. Halfway through the day you can join a workshop if you feel like it.

The Thesis Boost is a special event for thesis writers (BSc and MSc), organized by the Writing Centre. The idea behind it is that it would serve as a writing support group for students who are in the process of preparing, researching or writing their thesis. During the Thesis Boost students can work on their theses along with a small group of fellow thesis-writers, under the supervision of the Writing Centre coaches. Students also have the opportunity to learn helpful tips & tools, to participate in workshops related to thesis writing, and of course to ask our coaches for academic writing-related advice.

As we have no ‘home base’, every week we might be in a different room. You will be informed about the exact location a few days before the Thesis Boost day, via a welcome email from one of our coaches. So keep a close eye on your inbox!

We meet up in the morning at 9:00hrs. We gently begin the day by having a cup of coffee or tea and introducing each other. After that, everyone sets goals for themselves – something thesis-related that they would like to achieve until the end of the day. Then we have an optional workshop, during which you can learn helpful tips, tools and techniques related to academic writing. After the workshop, the first self-study block begins.
Around noon, we have lunch (which is not included in the event) and after that we continue with the self-study time until 17:00 (with regular breaks, of course). During that time, you will have the opportunity to speak with our coaches one-on-one and ask them any academic writing-related questions that you have.
After that, it is time to finish for the day by reflecting on how much progress you made and whether you completed your goals. This is also a perfect opportunity to share with everyone else what makes you work better. Whether it is a tip on increasing productivity, motivation, or anything else, it is up to you. As long as it helps you and you think it can help others, we would love to hear about it!
At about 17:30, we are done for the day and it is time to go home!
Note that these times can slightly change in future installments of the event. You can expect our detailed scheduled to be announced in the welcome email that you will receive from our coaches upon signing up for the event.

Click here to sign up for the Thesis Boost. In the form, you can expect general questions about your study and your thesis. There will also be questions that ask you to indicate what you would like to learn during the Thesis Boost. When answering them, please try to be as specific as you can. The more detail you provide us with, the better we can prepare the event!
Please note that when you sign up for the Thesis Boost the Writing Centre expects you to attend it. As we have limited spaces available, by not showing up, you might be preventing someone else from benefiting from the event. Also, based on the number of students who sign up, the Writing Centre makes arrangements for snacks and coffee, which will be going to waste in case students do not show up.
Thus, we ask you to inform us in advance in case you can no longer attend the Thesis Boost. You can do that by sending an email to the Writing Centre (writingcentre@tudelft.nl). Thank you in advance!

By signing up for the Thesis Boost, the Writing Centre makes arrangements to accommodate for your presence (and good time!). Therefore, in the case that you can no longer attend, we would be grateful if you inform us in advance. You can do that by sending an email to writingcentre@tudelft.nl.
Sometimes, depending on the number of students who already signed up before you, you might be put on a waiting list. This is due to the fact that the rooms reserved for the Thesis Boost have limited capacity. This means that we will keep you in mind in case students, who signed up earlier than you, do not show up, and we will let you know whether we have space for you during the first hour of the Thesis Boost day.
Moreover, if you know someone who is also interested in the Thesis Boost, please let them sign up through our sign-up form. Do not just show up with them, as we might not have the room for them.
Lastly, there is no limit to the amounts of times you can sign up for a Thesis Boost day. However, our only strict rule is that if you do not attend the Thesis Boost twice and do not inform us in advance, we will consider you as a non-serious candidate. This would mean that we will be forced to exclude you from future Thesis Boost days, in order to make room for other students. So make sure you cancel in advance!
