Confidential Advisor
Support for unwanted behavior
A confidential advisor provides support and advice to students who have to deal with undesirable behaviour or unequal treatment within their study programme. Examples include: bullying, discrimination, stalking, (sexual) intimidation, abuse of power and violence. You can also contact the confidential advisor in situations where you suspect plagiarism, falsification or fraud.
The confidential advisor:
- Makes sure to deliver adequate care for people who experienced unwanted behaviour
- Gives attention and is understanding
- Tries to look for informal solutions in the first instance
- Discusses with you the other options
- Guides you, but only when you desire that
- Can redirect you to other aid organisations or care professionals
- Has a duty of confidentiality
Complaints in case of unwanted behavior
The confidential advisor can also assist you in submitting a written complaint to the Executive Board, which has established a Complaints Committee for this. The committee investigates whether or not the complaint is being dealt with. It then examines whether a settlement is possible on which both parties can agree. If not, the committee hears the student and the person against whom the complaint is directed. The committee advises the Executive Board about the decision and measures needed to be taken.
The Complaint arrangement undesirable behaviour can be found in the Student Charter, chapter 10.
