Design for Sustainability (DfS) is one of the leading research groups on design for sustainability in the world. Our mission is to make design for sustainability a natural part of the everyday practice of all industrial designers, and to help create, through design, a lasting positive impact on the world.

News

Design research will increasingly direct its attention to living materials that can sense, respond, adapt and eventually die. This requires a fundamental change in the way we understand materials in design. The new flagship Biodesign Lab researches and develops new materials.

The new flagship Biodesign Lab will be researching and developing new materials in the state of the art lab. The construction work has resumed after a concise Summer recess, and the Biodesign Lab team can start preparing for research and development activities in their new quarters.

  • [January 13, 2022] | A small research grant (€135,000) has been granted  by the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Centre for BOLD Cities on Urban Digital Twins. Roy Bendor from IDE is one of the project team members as well, along with Jess Bier (Sociology, EUR), Thomas Swerts (Sociology, EUR), and Carola van Eijk (Public Administration, LU). Read more here.
