Energy efficiency and comfort in dwellings
The energy and health performances of modern dwellings are not as high as expected. For a part, this may come from the ways occupants use buildings services. The aim of this project is to find methods to collect accurate actual data on behaviour, health, comfort and energy use during the ‘normal’ use of dwellings. These data will be used to integrate user behaviour aspects in building performance simulation tools used for design and policy support.
Goals of the project
- Test and refine Measurements set in the Concept House;
- Test Measurement set in real life (occupied dwelling);
- Acquire fundamental knowledge of occupant behaviour in relationship to ventilation systems, building design and energy use;
- Acquire fundamental knowledge of suitable methods to determine occupant behaviour in relationship with energy use in dwellings and with indoor air quality.
