[CANCELLED] Workshop: Sign Language

18 October 2024 19:00 till 21:00 - By: Communication | Add to my calendar

Do you want to learn sign language? Or have you always wanted to know how a deaf person tackles everyday problems? Join our sign language workshop! Tobias de Ronde, a representative of TYD.nl, will teach us about their experience as a deaf person through their interpreter, and teach us some basics about International Sign Language. Ask all your questions about deaf life in this interactive workshop, and learn a few words of sign language!

Did you know that sign language has only been recognized as an official language in the Netherlands since the first of July 2021? Since then, the attention for sign language and deaf culture has skyrocketed!

During this two hour workshop, we will hear the personal story of Tobias in sign language, which will be translated through their interpreter. After this presentation, we will get hands-on experience with signing ourselves! We will practice in duo’s and TYD will help you learn all the tricks of the trade!

TYD's mission is to make Dutch Sign Language (Nederlandse Gebarentaal, NGT) and deaf culture visible and accessible. Through their online platform, users can learn NGT at their own pace and explore deaf culture. By doing so, they promote mutual understanding between deaf and hearing individuals, contributing to a more inclusive society.
