01/06 Let’s Talk about Buying a House in the Netherlands (in Dutch)
01 June 2021 08:00 till 23:00 - By: Communication | Add to my calendar
In urban regions, housing production lags and real estate prices are growing and growing. This results in a shortage of affordable homes, especially for starters. What does the current housing situation look like? And what does that mean for you as a student when you want to buy a house in a few years?
The current housing situation in the Netherlands shows a tension between housing as a source of income for many and adequate housing as a human right.
In this podcast, we talk about the Dutch housing problems with professor Marja Elsinga and Jelmar Broekman from SHS Delft. Marja Elsinga is a professor of Housing Institutions & Governance at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment. SHS Delft is a student organization that focuses on the redevelopment of real estate to accommodate student housing. We will discuss several innovative projects like the 1M Homes Initiative and VPRO Tegenlicht’s De Woonpioniers.
