Construction informatics

The ‘Construction Informatics’ theme integrates information technologies to streamline design and decision-making processes in the construction industry. It aims at efficient data management, analytics, and communication throughout infrastructure lifecycles, enhancing resilience, sustainability, and overall project coordination. This field encompasses Building Information Modelling (BIM), digital twins, systems engineering, complex systems modelling, uncertainty modelling, artificial intelligence, and extended reality, all of which facilitate augmented decision-making. We focus on developing these technologies incorporating a human-in-the-loop approach. Additionally, our research emphasises how these technologies are integrated into existing practices, supporting digital transformation within the construction sector.
