Ir. B.G. (Bob) van Noort

Profile

I started my studies at the faculty of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Technology in Delft in 2014. After obtaining my BSc degree, I continued with the Spaceflight Master at the same faculty. My thesis was about gravity determination of Titan with available Doppler data from the Cassini-Huygens mission. In 2021 I got my MSc degree. Now I am pursuing a PhD position on the integrity of Galileo Navigation signals.

Research

Position determination, specifically for aviation, has to be as accurate and reliable as possible. The integrity risk, the probability that the position estimate is outside a given acceptance limit without detecting this error, should therefore be as low as possible, usually smaller than 10¬-7. Errors in the GNSS observations could result in catastrophic events if not detected. This research tries to improve existing methods of (multiple) anomaly detections to both further minimize the integrity risk and demonstrate the possibilities of the Galileo Navigation Satellites through empirical validation of the to be derived algorithm.
