Redefining geothermal fluid properties at extreme conditions to optimize future geothermal energy Extraction
The REFLECT project, ‘Redefining geothermal fluid properties at extreme conditions to optimize future geothermal energy Extraction’, is a collaboration between 14 academic and industrial partners in 10 countries. The efficiency of geothermal utilisation depends heavily upon the behaviour of the fluids that transfer heat between the geosphere and the engineered components of a power plant. Chemical or physical processes such as precipitation, corrosion, or degassing occur as pressure and temperature change with serious consequences for power plant operations and project economics. At TU Delft we design and perform novel experiments to investigate degassing in high temperature (up to 500°C) and high salinity geothermal fluids.
