Human Library; Let’s not judge a book by its cover
We live in deeply polarised times. Growing divides between groups in our communities and the world needs a safe space where they can try and find common ground to learn about each other’s differences.
The ‘Human Library’ embodies the essence of the term; a library of people. Readers can borrow human beings (a mix of students and staff) serving as open books and have honest conversations free from judgment.
Every human book from our bookshelf represents a group in our society that can be subjects of prejudice, stigmatisation or discrimination because of their lifestyle, diagnosis, belief, disability, social status, ethnic origin etc.
Come and join this informal affair, allowing students, academic, educational and support staff the time to mingle, learn of their experiences from both sets of eyes and discuss what we can do for each other to ensure a safe and happy learning environment.
