Open data governance lecture by Jasper Kars

On 9 March 2023, Jasper Kars of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations gave an inspiring guest lecture on #opendata governance. This lecture is part of the course “Governance Specialization” for our BSc Technische Bestuurskunde students specializing in Information and Communication. Jasper explained how European open data guidelines are translated into Dutch legislation and how the multi-actor and political environment complicates this process. Jasper also addressed various recent news items, such as the European Commission taking the Netherlands to the European court for failing to implement EU rules on the release of public information and the recent decision by the European Court of Justice that denied public access to the European UBO registers.
