Freight Traffic Management As A Service

Mission

To connect real-life logistics and traffic management systems by developing, implementing and testing integrating applications, aiming for a significant impact on both logistic performance and on traffic networks.

Approach

The living lab benefits from the meeting of research and practice. A stepwise design approach connects the two subsystems of traffic and logistics, for 3 practical cases that will be running through the project.

Design

Solution design for a case involves building up value chains from data to information. These chains go in 2 directions: from traffic to logistics and from logistics to traffic. Business value is built on information that is required in business processes. The production of information from data requires one or several steps of data analytics, from cleaning and filtering data towards advance AI based data driven modelling approaches. The source of these data are the traffic and logistics processes themselves.

Living Lab

Main streams of work:

  • Living Labs for 3 running, practical innovation cases
  • Understanding barriers to impact of integrative decision support
  • Optimization of traffic management from a logistics perspective
  • Optimization of infrastructure maintenance from a logistics perspective
  • Multi-stakeholder, multi-objective KPI framework
  • Data-to-value modelling framework
