Sven Weerdenburg
I am a PhD candidate in the group of Dr. Monique van der Veen. I work on plasmon-assisted heterogeneous catalysis for the conversion of carbon dioxide to chemical building blocks such as methane and methanol. My works mostly consists of synthesizing plasmonic nanoparticles and studying the temperature changes and charge carrier dynamics with time-resolved spectroscopy and other techniques.
I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Molecular Science and Technology, and master’s degree in Chemical Engineering also here in Delft. My master thesis was done at the OM group under supervision of Prof. Dr. Laurens Siebbeles and was about the modelling of charge carrier multiplication for new solar cell materials.
