Jen Roux
I am a PhD candidate in the TPM Ethics and Philosophy Section, Resilience Lab, and Institute for Health Systems Science. I graduated with a Master of Public Health in 2021 and specialised in global health and health disparities. Research and projects I’ve worked on have focused on advancing health equity in AI/ML applications through coordinated community partnerships, conducting a State-based burden of disease sub-analysis, supporting rural-community mental health services, establishing COVID-19 response and prevention measures, and instilling anti-racism practices in public health academic programming.
As health and access to it don’t mean the same across all communities, health system resilience strategies must move beyond sweeping national plans and towards integrating targeted regional and local solutions. Communities and their actors are at the forefront of experiencing and responding to diverse shocks and stressors. Likewise, they are critical drivers of resilience and are integral to strengthening health systems. My PhD research explores the relationship between health systems, communities, and health actors within resilience processes. More specifically, I will investigate the critical role of how informal and formal actors in the health workforce influence community and health system resilience.
