I am a designer and researcher with a background in interaction design. I enjoy to study how design can contribute to positive behavioural change of people, and ultimately systemic change in society. My research focuses on fostering social resilience of local communities through place-making: citizens connecting with each other and with their living environment in urban settings. I study and use playful and creative approaches to enable place-making for children, youngsters, and adults in neighbourhoods in Rotterdam and The Hague. My thesis works towards a design framework for participatory place-making, which showcases possible neighbourhoud interventions, presents design guidelines, and discusses trade-offs to design for place-making.
