I research at the intersection of climate change, energy transition, complex systems and networks. I work with the understanding that resilience is as important as decarbonization in the societal response to the consequences of climate change. At the core of climate resilience are people and their relationships with the environment they live in.
At the Resilience Lab, I work on a quick resilience scan of Amsterdam’s critical infrastructures to climate shocks such as floods, heat-waves and droughts. This involves a quantitative vulnerability assessment of critical networks, the results of which feed into Policy-Science Labs which bring together policy-makers and scientists. This exercise is expected to help arrive at a concrete framework for incorporating resilience-thinking into policy-making for Amsterdam.
