Dr. Udo Pesch
Profile
I am associate professor in ethics of technology at the department of Values, Technology and Innovation of the faculty of Technology, Policy and Management at the TU Delft. I studied philosophy of technology, science and society at the University of Twente and got my PhD in 2005 at the University of Leiden. I have been working in Delft since 2008. I started at the Section for Technology Dynamics and Sustainable Development (TDO) and in 2013 I have become a member of the Section of Ethics and Philosophy of Innovation (EPT).
I am the chair of the human research ethics committee (HREC) of the university and member of the TPM Energy Transition Lab. I teach Technology Dynamics in the Management of Technology Programme at TPM and Engineering ethics for Aerospace engineers.
Research
I have a strong multidisciplinary background in philosophy, policy science, political theory and innovation studies. My main focus is on the democratization of infrastructures, most notably within the context of the energy transition. Other disciplinary interests include responsible innovation, participatory decision-making, environmental politics, public policy, and ethics. My recently published work includes articles on energy justice, sustainable innovation and moral emotions. He has published a wide range of articles and book chapters, among others in Social Studies of Science (SSS), Science, Technology & Human Values (STHV), the Journal of Responsible Innovation (JRI), Science and Engineering Ethics (SEE), and Technological Forecasting and Social Change (TFSC).
