Research
To develop low carbon policies in a world of ever-increasing complexity, policymakers rely on research results based on quantitative tools. Yet, for drawing the right conclusions, they need a deeper understanding of underlying modelling assumptions and uncertainties. A frequent dialogue between decision-makers and involved modellers helps not only to achieve greater transparency but also benefits the fine-tuning of assumptions. This is especially true for decision-makers in the Global South who too often depend on models and other inputs from Western experts. In her work, Franziska explores ways of improving this cooperation between policymaking and science for evidence-based policymaking.
