IsoGeometric Analysis (IGA) is a collection of techniques that aims to narrow the gap between the geometric representation of mechanical objects and the simulation of their properties. As originally introduced it is a Galerkin scheme based on tensor product spline space and the pullback of the PDE. In this setting one can achieve efficiency by exploiting the tensor product structure, or by introducing more complex spaces and algorithms that allow for adaptive methods. The talk is about a third way, still lacking theoretical guarantees, where both code simplicity and efficiency can be achieved, but at the cost of dealing with singular systems.
