Bachelor: Remote Sensing Technology at Wuhan University
Going through the assignments helped me a lot, improving both my capabilities and confidence in respect of solving real-world problems.
I am a PhD candidate in the 3D geoinformation group at TU Delft. My project falls under the AI lab 3DUU (3D Urban Understanding), which mainly focuses on 3D understanding for urban applications. In addition to that, I’m gaining one-year’s work experience as a Python developer at Cobra Groeninzicht.
I attended the Master’s programme in Geomatics from 2017-2019. This programme covers a lot of technical courses such as programming, geodata processing and analysis, and 3D modelling. It laid a solid technical foundation for me, broadened my horizon, and also helped me gain advanced knowledge in the field of Geoinformation. I am especially interested in the topic of 3D modelling for complex urban environments, which is what motivated me to pursue a research career in this field.
For me, one of the most important characteristics of the Geomatics programme is its focus on practice and hands-on experience. The assignments are well designed, and carry almost the same weight as the exams. Going through those assignments helped me a lot, improving both my capabilities and confidence in respect of solving real-world problems. Besides, collaboration is valued in this programme. We are usually grouped together for projects and are also encouraged to work with companies.
I think the Geomatics programme makes me a rounded professional. I have the feeling that I will be ready for most opportunities in this industry when I graduate.
