Amal Abdulrahman

Amal received her PhD degree in 2022 from the Computing department at Macquarie University in Sydney-Australia. Her PhD thesis focuses on building a use-aware explainable virtual advisor to encourage health behaviour change. Prior to that, she completed Masters by research from University Sains Malaysia in 2015 in the area of affective computing where she developed an automatic facial expression recognition system using 3D face images. Amal worked as a research assistant in different projects in the University Sains Malaysia in the area of human-computer interaction.
Her main interest lies in the area of artificial intelligence and human-computer interaction. In particular, she is interested in exploring how can current technology support human daily activities towards a better quality of life. My current research focuses on developing an artificial agent to support people with diabetes to manage their diabetes-related social distress or what is called diabetes burnout.
