Michael Weinmann

Michael Weinmann is an Assistant Professor of the Intelligent Systems Department at TU Delft. Before, he was a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer (“Akademischer Rat”) with a focus on machine learning for graphics at the Department of Visual Computing at the University of Bonn (until 2021) as well as a project coordinator of the X-Rite Graduate School on Digital Material Appearance. He studied Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (2003-2009) and received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Bonn under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Reinhard Klein in 2016. His contributions to academic services were acknowledged in terms of awards for outstanding reviewing in computer vision (ICCV 2017, ECCV 2020, 3DV 2020) as well as photogrammetry and remote sensing (ISPRS TC I Midterm Symposium 2018, ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing 2017).

His current research interests include object and scene digitization, digital material appearance, scene representations, scene interpretation, data visualization, live telepresence, machine learning, computational arts and cultural heritage.
