TKI Offshore Energy LIVE – Offshore Energy on Demand
Tuesday 13 February 12h00 @ The Green Village, TU Delft
Energy storage, system integration, predictability of sustainable energy supply and the best way to tender offshore wind farms
An important part of offshore wind in our North Sea is intended to make the industry in the Netherlands more sustainable. With the move away from fossil energy sources in industry, the demand for sustainably generated electricity is increasing. TKI Energy & Industry shows in its roadmap that demand from industry in the Netherlands will grow from 80 to 130 TWh between 2030 and 2050. On the one hand, the need for the industry to respond to the availability of sustainable energy when needed and on the other hand, to the offshore wind sector to ensure sufficient capacity.
Offshore wind farms are now being tendered based on required power (in Gigawatts), but this does not necessarily say much about the required energy (in Terawatt hours). Could energy parks instead of wind farms solve this issue? How could we manage the required electricity capacity at the right times? What does this require of the energy grid? To what extent do we stimulate innovation to balance the grid with this?
In this live webinar we discuss energy storage, system integration, predictability of sustainable energy supply and the best way to tender offshore wind farms.
