Our Vision Team: The Mobilizers

The Transport & Mobility Institute has its own vision team, called The Mobilizers. This team is working on our joint vision and exploring opportunities to strengthen joint mobility research and education across faculties.

The Mobilizers are composed of two members from each participating faculty. As a team, they will develop pathways for the future of mobility and transportation, from the present until 2050, and at a higher level, until 2070.

The first step is horizon scanning: identifying potential political, economic, social, technological, legal, and environmental trends and developments that may impact the future of mobility. How significantly could these developments affect the mobility system by 2050 (2070)? And to what extent are we certain that they will materialize by 2050 (2070)?

Based on these insights, the team has developed a set of scenarios: possible pathways to 2050 (and 2070). These scenarios aid in shaping a shared vision – envisioning what the mobility system might resemble in 2050 and how we can contribute to making it as sustainable, inclusive, affordable, and resilient as possible. To bolster this effort, recommendations for a suitable research and education program will be drafted.
