Pigments Troughout Time
Did you know that blue pigmentation occurs almost nowhere in nature? And that for a long time the pigment was worth much more than gold?
As human beings, we have attached value to colour for more than 40,000 years. Colour is inseparable from our lives, it evokes emotion and feelings. It’s hard for us to imagine a world without all the modern colours. It used to be so, a world where only a handful of people had access to certain colours.
In this exhibition, we go back in time. On the way, we are confronted with the eternal quest and importance of colour in our lives. By juxtaposing the mineral, the pigment, and the colour, it becomes clear that colour does not just come into being.
