Social media

TU Delft maintains an active presence across several social media platforms. This page provides specific guidelines for each platform and topic. Adhering to TU Delft's overall house style and brand guide is essential when posting on any of these channels.

Brand guide per social media channel

YouTube

TU Delft has an active presence on YouTube. You can find our channel here. The contact person for the YouTube page is Esther van Kan (esther.vankan@tudelft.nl).

For standard YouTube uploads, we recommend using landscape-oriented videos. The video assets for creating YouTube content can be downloaded here. There is no need to include logos in the videos, and the preferred main language is English. Subtitles should be provided in a separate .srt file, ideally in both Dutch and English.

A custom thumbnail should also be created for each video. You can download our standard thumbnail grid here.

LinkedIn

TU Delft has a presence on LinkedIn. You can find our channel here. For any inquiries related to this page, please contact Esther van Kan at esther.vankan@tudelft.nl.

For LinkedIn posts, we recommend using square images or videos. If you're uploading a video, use a separate .srt file for subtitles instead of embedding them directly into the video. We suggest keeping the video length under 5 minutes. There is no need to include a logo on the content.

When using pictures, make sure you use 3 or 4. That way the lay-out will look nice.

When linking through LinkedIn, the URL will be shortened with an edu-link. We also prefer linking to our own website whenever possible.

Facebook

TU Delft is active on Facebook. You can find our channel here. For any questions related to this page, please contact Esther van Kan at esther.vankan@tudelft.nl.

Facebook supports multiple content formats. For images and videos, we recommend using either landscape or square formats. When posting videos, use a separate .srt file for subtitles rather than embedding them directly into the video. On the TU Delft feed, avoid placing QR codes or long texts within the visual content. It’s also unnecessary to include a logo on the visuals. The primary language should be English, except when linking to Dutch-speaking events or content.

When linking through Facebook, the URL will be shortened with an edu-link. We prefer to link directly to our own website whenever possible.

X

TU Delft is active on X. You can find our channel here. For inquiries about this page, please contact Esther van Kan at esther.vankan@tudelft.nl.

When posting on X, we recommend using square or landscape images and videos. For videos, use a separate .srt file for subtitles rather than embedding them directly. Keep the video length under two minutes. There's no need to include logos or QR codes in the content. Additionally, we do not link paid accounts to our corporate account.

TU Delft has a presence on Instagram. The channel can be found here. Contact person for this page is Esther van Kan (esther.vankan@tudelft.nl).

Feed-post op Instagram

For Instagram feed posts, we recommend using square (1:1) or vertical (4:5) images.

On TU Delft’s Instagram feed, avoid using QR codes or lengthy text within the images. Additionally, there is no need to include a logo on the content.

Always adhere to the TU Delft house style for images. For more information on our photo guidelines, click here. We prefer using images that clearly relate to TU Delft rather than stock photos.

Avoid placing links in the post descriptions, as they are not clickable. Also, “link in bio” URLs tend to generate few clicks. If you need to include a link, we recommend doing so in an Instagram Story.

The primary language for posts should be English, except when linking to Dutch-language events or content.

Instagram story

For Instagram Stories, we recommend using a format of 1080px by 1920px (9:16 ratio). The primary language for content should be English, and we do not include QR codes or logos in the design.

There are several formats you can use for an Instagram Story, especially for corporate content. While we have standard formats, there is flexibility to adapt as needed:

  • Event Story: Highlight events using a link sticker. You can download the event story template here.
  • Reposting Tags: If TU Delft is tagged in a post, we have the option to repost it. Please note that tags may not always be noticed automatically, so it’s best to notify us directly if you want a repost.
  • Takeovers: This format involves giving control of the account to another party, such as a student union, to post their own content as a takeover. During takeovers, limit the number of stories to 10-15 per day. It should be clear that it’s a takeover, with a distinct opening and closing. Ensure the stories are interactive and primarily in English. Examples of takeovers can be found here. For takeovers, we also have standard Instagram Stickers available; search for 'tu delft' in the gif-sticker library.
  • Announcements: Use this format for general announcements about campus or calls to participate in surveys.
  • Lastly, we have the quiz format, which allows us to engage followers interactively by quizzing them on specific topics.

For Instagram Stories, we’ve developed a set of stickers that everyone can use. To find these, simply search for 'tu delft' in the gif sticker library while creating your story.

In addition to stories, we use highlights to categorize and preserve important content. Our highlight categories include: Food/Beverages, Takeover, International Students & Mental Health.

You can download the highlight cover images here.

Instagram reel

For Instagram Reels, we recommend using a size of 1080px by 1920px (9:16 ratio). Be aware that when Reels are displayed in the feed, Instagram automatically crops them to a 4:5 ratio. Therefore, avoid placing important content at the very top or bottom of the 9:16 frame, ensuring that key elements are within the 4:5 area.

You can add a specific thumbnail (in .jpg format) as the cover for the Reel, or select a frame during the upload process.

The most common file format for Reels is .mp4. While Reels can be up to 15 minutes long, we recommend keeping them around one minute for optimal engagement.

There’s no need to add the TU Delft logo to the Reel, and we suggest avoiding other company logos as well. Adhere to the TU Delft house style in both the imagery and the assets used. You can read more about our house style here and download the necessary assets here.

If there is speech in the Reel, it’s advisable to include embedded subtitles. For our corporate account, we prefer to use English whenever possible.
