Exchange students are allowed to take courses from different departments. Most courses are taught in English. Course registration will open 1-2 months before the semester starts. The finalized course list is uploaded 2 months prior to the start of the semester.
KAIST has the following requirements on the amount of courses:
Undergraduate (Bachelor) students have to take a minimum of 4 courses (12 local credits) and a maximum of 8 courses (24 local credits). Please note that more than 4 courses are required to reach 30 ECTS.Graduate (Master) students have to take a minimum of 3 courses (9 local credits) and a maximum of 4 courses (12 local credits).
Furthermore, KAIST advises to take 50% of your courses in the discipline you are majoring in (Aerospace Engineering). However, this is not required.
Students are not allowed to register for courses from different levels of a degree program, hence BSc students can only take BSc level courses and MSc students only MSc level ones. The courses are classified by the course code/number. Course No. of 1xx~4xx is for Bachelors, 4xx~8xx is for Masters. (ex. MS211 = Bachelor course, BiS752 = Master course) The university may assist you with making your course choices.
