5.3 Planning and communication
Managing a thesis project is a dynamic activity. You are the active project- and process manager. Your supervisors are in principle re-active. They will however become active if you find it difficult to manage your project, because of internal or external reasons. Ask for support in an early stage.
Follow the procedure contained in the TIL-0 form. Plan your work very well, work steadily and take care that you follow the advises, rules and regulations.
The thesis manual contains fixed deadlines to email your reports. This may create addition stress. Try to negotiate the actual deadlines with your supervisors, still allowing them to read your report or paper.
Regularly communicate with your supervisors, either formally or informally. If your private conditions (health, relationship, family) lead to delays, always inform your supervisors and contact an academic counsellor or study psychologist if necessary. Do not disappear from our radar. This holds even more for those of you studying abroad.
Hearing nothing from a student for a long time is very disconcerting for us and does not promote your case.
If we are informed timely, then we can help you readjust your project and its planning with limited consequences.
