DSZ WAVE

DSZ WAVE is the student water polo, swimming and triathlon association for students in Delft. The association has 300 members, and pleasure is as important as performance at DSZ WAVE.

If you are looking for a swimming, water polo, or triathlon association in Delft, DSZ WAVE is the place to be! But it is not only about performance at DSZ WAVE, because regularly outside-the-pool activities are being organized in addition to sports activities. From the fastest swimmers and the best water polo players in the country to people who have not swum a match in their lives, all levels are present at DSZ WAVE. After most practices we share a drink at the bar in the pool, so you have plenty of opportunity to get to know your teammates and other members!

As stated above, there are thee branches at DSZ WAVE. The swimming branch offers practices 5 times a week, from Monday until Friday. During these practices, we build up towards the 5 competitions we have in a year: the NSZK’s (Dutch Students Swimming Competition) and the NKS (Dutch Student Championship). Any level is welcome here and having fun is just as important as the performance. Every competitions ends with a good party, and it is a whole weekend of fun with fellow members in other cities in The Netherlands.  Next to regular swimming, we also offer open water swimming practices in summer and we participate in open water competitions. 

In the water polo branch, we have 4 teams. Men’s WAVE 1 plays third district bond, Men’s WAVE 2 plays 3rd regional class. Women’s WAVE 1 play 2nd regional class. The last team is the beginner’s team, WAVE 4, that plays at the NSWK (National Student Water polo Competition). There are 4 of those each year, including a great party. The absolute highlight of the Dutch student water polo is the WAVE Winter Tournament, every January. This tournament takes place across two days and received many enthusiastic teams from the Netherlands and beyond. On the Saturday night a big party is hosted for all participants.

Our triathlon branch is the newest branch. Besides swimming practices at DSZ WAVE, we offer running practices once a week, open water practices in the summer and cycling practices few times a year. The triathletes represent WAVE on the bike, the feet and in the water.

And of course, next to all the sports, we have our very own bar, called the Badtrand. At this bar we have drinks every Thursday, this is the perfect opportunity to meet fellow members. We also have a lot of activities next to all the practices, so WAVE is indeed a place for fun, meeting new people and sports!
