How can we effectively supervise bachelor students?
At our faculty (TPM), many teachers are presently involved in bachelor thesis supervision with very diverse international and academic backgrounds. The increasing diversity is very welcome, as it enriches the variety and breadth of education. Yet, it also brings challenges, providing too much/too little structure in the supervision, how to tailor it to varying motivations, backgrounds, and needs. Dealing with these challenges is difficult and requires considerable knowledge and skills from the side of the supervisor. Do you also recognise those challenges? Would you like to uncover the knowledge on effective student supervision?
In this Meet & Eat, I will provide some tentative findings of my Education Fellowship project and engage in a discussion on what elements constitute effective supervision for bachelor students. I have interviewed experienced and inexperienced teachers at our faculty on the topic, and I would also like to hear about your experience: What makes a great supervisor?
