“The Bright side of Viruses”
On this special day, I will take you on a scientific journey exploring how viruses have driven the evolution of remarkable immune systems in bacteria and archaea. The journey encompasses the discovery and unravelling of CRISPR-Cas, which is now widely used as a versatile tool in research, biotechnology, and medicine. Additionally, I will highlight the potential use of viruses themselves to combat antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Last but not least I will highlight all the people who have contributed to this remarkable scientific journey.
