Emir Demirović
I am an Assistant Professor at the Algorithmics group at of the TU Delft, Faculty of Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EWI), Department of Software and Computer Technology.
I have an opening for a PhD student in trustworthy AI! You may find more details in the vacancy: https://www.academictransfer.com/en/295058/phd-position-in-algorithmics/
My primary research interest lies in solving complex real-world problems through combinatorial optimisation and its integration with machine learning. My research includes both developing general-purpose algorithms and applications. An example of such a problem is to design algorithms to generate high-quality timetables for high schools based on the curriculum, teacher availability, and pedagogical requirements. Another example is to optimise a production plan while only having an estimate of costs rather than precise numbers. Prior to my post at TU Delft, I was an associate lecturer and postdoctoral researcher (research fellow) at the University of Melbourne in Australia working with Professors Peter J. Stuckey, James Bailey, Rao Kotagiri, Christopher Leckie, and Dr Jeffrey Chan. I received my PhD from the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) under the supervision of Priv. Dozent Dr Nysret Musliu. In between these positions I held shorter terms posts at a production planning and scheduling company MCP (Vienna, Austria) and the National Institute of Informatics (Toyko, Japan) with Professor Katsumi Inoue.
