Calendar

Our lab has several weekly meetings. At the bottom of this page you can find the up to date schedule with the locations of all meetings. Below we give a brief summary of the type of meetings that we have.

On Monday, we have the lab meeting, where someone of the group presents their work in detail. This meeting is scheduled from 12:30 to 13:30. Once a month, instead of a lab meeting, we have a group meeting. The group meeting is for discussing general topics related to the group, and everyone briefly gives an update on what they are currently working on (lab round). In the calendar, you can find whether we have a group meeting or lab meeting and who is presenting. The calendar entry is as follows: “Person X, C: Person Y”, meaning, Person X gives a presentation about their work and Person Y is chairing the session.

 On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, we have a coffee talk. In this meeting somebody presents an article that they like. This presentation takes only 10 – 15 minutes, which is pretty short to explain a single paper. Because of this, the presentations should focus on the main message of the paper, and the presentations should not be too detailed. These presentations are very useful to learn new topics in a short amount of time.

On Friday, we sometimes organize a reading group. These meetings are for people that want to get a deeper understanding of a difficult or new topic. Typically, you have to come prepared to these meetings.

 Students interested in the field pattern recognition and / or computer vision are welcome to attend our meetings. In particular, it makes sense to attend coffee talks, and perhaps the reading group, if the topic interests you. Students are also welcome on Monday for the lab meeting, however, students might want to investigate beforehand whether or not the field of the presenter coincides with their interests. These talks are usually quite in depth, and therefore are generally more enjoyable if you have a little prior knowledge about the subject or field.
