Social value of nuclear decommissioning and site remediation
This project investigates the concept of social value and what this means in the context of managing projects. The driver for this study was to respond to the introduction of new legislation in the UK, namely The Public Services (Social Value) Act, 2012. This PhD study focuses specifically on the role stakeholder communication and framing plays in making sense of what social value means in nuclear decommissioning and site remediation.
This study is funded under the auspices of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Industrial CASE studentships programme, with co-funding provided by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). The PhD student, Cara Mulholland, is based at The University of Manchester and has been supervised by Paul Chan, Chair of Design and Construction Management.
