[AN] Jesse Reimann: Schur multipliers of divided differences and harmonic analysis

15 October 2024 16:00 till 17:00 - Location: EEMCS Lecture Hall Chip | Add to my calendar

In this talk I will introduce Schur multipliers, which can be seen as a generalisation of componentwise multiplication of matrices. In particular, Schur multipliers associated with divided difference functions have played a key role in proving important theorems in functional analysis and mathematical physics.

In recent work with Martijn Caspers, we have studied the optimal boundedness constants of these operators. In this talk I want to focus on the link between Schur multipliers and harmonic analysis, and how we used the theory of Fourier multipliers and Calderón-Zygmund operators to estimate these boundedness constants.
