9 researchers from ELLIS Unit Delft honoured with Fellows or Scholars title
The European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) is a network of 43 sites across 17 countries bringing together European excellence in machine learning, focusing on fundamental science, technical innovation and societal impact.
TU Delft has participated in ELLIS since 2019, currently with over 30 active members within the ELLIS Unit Delft. A total of nine researchers have recently been honoured with an ELLIS Fellow or Scholar title. Fellows and Scholars have made significant scientific contributions, and act as community leaders and ambassadors for the ELLIS network.
Our new ELLIS Scholars are Wendelin Böhmer, Holger Caesar, Emir Demirović and Xucong Zhang.
Xucong Zhang, Assistant Professor in the Department of Intelligent Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics & Computer Science (EEMCS), Delft University of Technology

"The European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) aims to bring together European excellence in machine learning, focuses on fundamental science, technical innovation and societal impact. We have been proud to have been part of the network since 2019, and these most recent distinctions bestowed upon our faculty further highlight both the track record and potential we have in this area."
This is a great testament to their scientific contributions - congratulations everyone!
Candidates need to be nominated by the Program/Unit directors to become ELLIS Fellows and Scholars. Each nominated Fellow/Scholar candidate is evaluated by two reviewers who are existing Fellows, working in a different country and with a different nationality from the candidate.
