House prices and transactions up in third quarter 2024 despite limited construction efforts
The number of pre-existing houses for sale increases slightly in the third quarter of 2024, bringing the total number to approximately 65,800. The number of newly built for-sale homes stabilises around 15,000; a figure which remains historically low. Demand for for-sale homes is once again increasing, resulting overall in an increasingly tight market and a continued rise in purchase prices. Sales activity is on the rise, especially among first-time buyers who are once again seeing opportunities in the market for existing for-sale homes.
This is according to the forty-seventh Monitor of the Housing Market, which covers the third quarter of 2024. It was presented on Friday 8 November by the Expertisecentrum Woningwaarde, part of TU Delft's Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment.
