Apply for the 24/25 Student Board

Are you interested in sustainable global development? Do you think education, research, and innovation are important in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals? Do you want to make a difference? Are you a BSc or MSc student? Then we are looking for you!

TU Delft | Global Initiative is the platform for education, science and innovation for global development at TU Delft. We actively support students and researchers who are working on solving urgent global challenges, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa and South-East Asia. From floating homes in the Philippines to easy-to-use diagnostic tools for parasitic diseases, we believe that concrete solutions to worldwide problems can only be found with an interdisciplinary approach and in close cooperation and co-creation with local partners. 


In 2021 TU Delft | Global Initiative set up their very own Student Club, and over the past two years we have developed a community of over 350 students interested in global development education, research and innovation. Now we are looking for three motivated students with an interest in global development who want to join the third student board for the coming Academic Year, starting from August 2024.

Why join?

As a board member, you will work closely together with the staff of the TU Delft | Global Initiative to promote the initiative and its research and education activities among students of TU Delft (and other stakeholders such as universities, companies, and embassies). You will get the chance to: 

  • Empower students to have a positive influence on sustainable global development.
  • Gain experience in organizing events and extracurricular activities such as workshops, excursions and field trips, 
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders, sponsoring/fundraising, project management
  • Be part of an interesting network at TU Delft and in the field of engineering for global development. 

What are the tasks?

As our next board you will help further build up the club and its activities and you can therefore have a lot of influence on shaping the strategy together with TU Delft | Global Initiative.

  • Communications, Community & Events (Communications & Events Officer)
  • Collecting internships, thesis opportunities & The setup of the annual Opportunity Market (Project & Administration Officer)
  • Internal & External Relations, including alumni relations (Chair)
  • Financial responsibility (Chair)
  • In addition, all of you will be responsible for overseeing and leading the sub committees. 

Salary

The three board positions will be partly paid positions. This means you will be hired as a student assistant for one year at a maximum of 4 hours a week, though we also expect you to invest some of your own time (up to 6 extra hours a week) if necessary.
