Architectural Technology
The shared vision of the section of Architectural Technology is to enable building solutions in a world of finite resources through innovation in architectural engineering. By intelligently and effectively implementing new technologies, the section wants to contribute to a resource-efficient, regenerative and resilient building practice and built environment. The synergy between architecture and design, and technology and engineering, is at the heart of all its teaching and research activities.
The section is active in the domains of structural design, architectural materials, design of construction, circular building products and technology-driven architecture and has leading expertise on topics like the circular built environment, façade design, architectural and structural glass, timber architecture, biobased materials, renovation strategies and climate resilience.
Its members are grouped into two research groups: Architectural Façades & Products (aFP) and Sustainable Structures and Materials (ReStruct).
